Plan your scavenger hunt through Vienna

Scavenger hunting in Vienna: We have the best tips for you

A scavenger hunt is the ideal leisure activity for outdoor enthusiasts and mystery enthusiasts. You get out in the fresh air, spend time with friends and family, and the best part: you can plan a whole personal route and try your hand at puzzle development. In this post you will find helpful tips for your first scavenger hunt through Vienna.

1. Find the right outdoor location

Find the right location for your escape game. We recommend an open space without traffic, a woodland or a meadow. The area should not be too large, optimal is a distance of about two kilometers. Go to the waypoints and mark them in your GPS system. Think about how many stations you want to include in your scavenger hunt: We recommend between six and eight stations for an extensive mission!

The riddles should get harder from station to station. This way you give the participants a pleasant start, which does not end in boredom in the further course. Consider a game time and a reward for the goal!

2. Create script and storyboard

What story would you like to tell? What characters will there be and how will they relate to each other? Put your stations in the right order and start the script. Formulate your puzzles and write your story scene by scene. In a storyboard, you can record the different scenes and see your idea visualized for the first time.

3. Install the video and audio accompaniment

Audio and video material can help create the right atmosphere for your scavenger hunt and put your fellow players in the right mood. Give them a tablet or mobile phone on the road and record the videos and audio tracks in advance. Use your surroundings as a clue: Highway noise or moving cars in the background can be an important clue!

4. Engage actors for your mission

If provided for in the script, you can hire actors for your scavenger hunt. They will ensure the appropriate dramaturgical rounding of your story and the right atmosphere in the team.

5. Fix a realistic time window

Define the goal of your scavenger hunt through Vienna and set a time window in which the goal can be reached. Between 90 minutes and two hours is a reasonable time frame in which tasks can be completed without boredom or frustration.

6. Schedule time between groups

To prevent one group from overtaking another or groups from running into each other at a station, you should allow enough time between groups. With a reasonable time interval, you can clean up the stations after each run and reposition the clues correctly.

7. Scrap hunting as a team building measure

A scavenger hunt is a playful approach to team building processes. Communication, teamwork and solution-oriented action are part of Escape Games as they are part of everyday office life.
