Selected for you: 7 favorite flea markets in Vienna
Rummage, haggle, rejoice: Selected flea markets in Vienna
People swap and buy and sell – it’s in their nature. (They are just as happy to watch the sun go down or eat a good ice cream). What we have been doing for thousands of years has one of its most beautiful manifestations in the culture of flea markets. So that you don’t always go to the same ones, we have put together some secret tips and seven unique flea markets in Vienna for you.
Selected for you: 7 flea markets in Vienna
Whatever you are passionate about, whether vintage clothing, antique furniture, bicycles or an exquisite selection of rare plants – there are flea markets, swap meets and second-hand events in Vienna where everyone can find what they are looking for. This way, old things find new uses, less waste is created and less new stuff needs to be produced. Sustainability is a top priority at our selected addresses:
48er Tandler: Viennese second-hand market
The 48er Tandler is available at two locations: furniture, crockery, toys, clothes and bicycles in Vienna’s 5th and 22nd districts offer just about everything that we humans accumulate over time. The stores, which are open all year round, breathe new life into old items by presenting them in a stylish setting. A flea market with a difference.

Once a month, one afternoon is dedicated entirely to non-motorized two-wheelers at the WUK art and culture center. The pretty and renovated inner courtyard is located between Arne Karlsson Park and the Volksoper directly on Währinger Straße and therefore almost in the heart of Vienna’s 9th district. Private sellers and collectors can offer their old bikes there, and fittingly there is also a self-help workshop next door in part of the building – perfect for the start of a new bike season.

Savarts Fleamarket
Driven by the desire to make our interiors even more beautiful, Artur Savenkov specializes in furnishings and furniture – and exhibits them in a dreamlike apartment in Vienna’s 4th district. At Savarts Fleamarket, you will find everything your vintage heart desires, from mid-century to modern classics, although you will only be guided through the rooms by appointment. However, flea market weekends are held at irregular intervals, during which a larger public is granted access to the flea market refuge. The best way to find out when this is is on Instagram.

The name says it all, because in addition to the real flea market flair within the four walls of Café Journal, there is a free glass of sparkling wine on top. Moist and cheerful shopping takes on a whole new meaning at the Sekt in Hand flea market in Vienna, and you don’t have to worry about bad weather – the flea market is taking place. Unfortunately, it’s all too rare, although the café in the 7th district is a real treasure. For regular updates on the next event, you should follow her Instagram.

Project Wardrobe – Room within a room
What draws us to the flea markets in Vienna? That’s right, the desire for new but old treasures. Fast fashion has had its day; what counts is sustainability, recyclability and the joy of swapping – and haggling. However, the Gaderobe project takes a completely different approach to that of traditional flea markets. Instead of exchanging money for goods, you bring seven of your favorite pieces and swap them for seven new ones. An exciting project by Raum im Raum that you shouldn’t miss out on. It usually takes place several times a year, the best way to keep up to date is to check the calendar on the website.
