These spas have the best slides in Austria
Spa plus slide = pure experience
Children love slides. And children love water. It’s good that adventure pools have plenty of both. Even better: when spas have slides so that parents can also get their money’s worth. We show you the best water parks in Vienna and Austria.
Hot days, balmy spring evenings with sunsets or rainy fall days: there are plenty of reasons to spend a day in a thermal spa with a slide, in adventure pools or in a water park in Austria. So let’s go for the maximum bathing experience for the whole family! If you’re looking for insider tips in Vienna or the best ice cream parlors, we can also help you.
Spa with slide or water park: What makes the difference?
Whether water park or thermal baths: the adventure pools presented here can do both, although thermal baths usually also have quiet areas where you can relax and recharge your batteries away from the slides and diving platforms. Sometimes there are also adults-only areas. As the term thermal spa is not officially protected, it is not necessary for real thermal water, i.e. hot water (at least 20 degrees), to come out of the ground and feed the pools and basins of the thermal baths.
Basically, most thermal spas are swimming pools with upscale facilities. These often include an extensive sauna and spa landscape, or children’s and adventure areas with slides and fun pools. Water parks, on the other hand, are often all about fun, action and adventure.
These spas have the best slides
One of the fastest slides in Austria is located in the legendary Area 47 in Ötztal in Tyrol. The slide called Freefall applies up to 3G to your body. At Erlebnistherme Amadé in Pongau in Salzburger Land, a looping slide with an 8-metre free fall awaits you. And at the Loipersdorf thermal spa in Styria, you can compete directly against your best friend in the world’s only Carrera slide with a double track.
And the Acapulco Pirate World at the Bad Schallerbach thermal spa in Upper Austria calls itself a “top-class water park”: this includes a 42-metre-long kamikaze slide with a gradient of up to 50 percent and the brand new Smart Glide, where you can configure your own sound and light effects.
Salzburg: Erlebnistherme Amadé with looping slide
Thermal baths with slides? Yes! Adventure pool? Oh yes! Because the spectacular fun in the Anaconda single looping slide, where you start standing, lasts just 10 seconds. Upper Austria: Bad Schallerbach thermal spa with giant slide
Bad Schallerbach is considered by many to be the best thermal spa with a slide in western Austria: there are many experiences to be had in the pool of the large Aquapulco pirate world. In the adventure trail, you can climb high up, swing with lianas or make your way through wobbly fishing nets. And there’s plenty to eat and drink too: the Shark Bar, Beach Bar and Café Ahoy will spoil you with tasty seafood.

Tyrol: Area 47 – Austria’s fastest slide in free fall
Real adrenaline junkies head to Area 47 in Tyrol, because this is home to one of the fastest slides in Austria and even Europe. Quasi the Streif of slides! On the freefall slide, up to three times your body weight is exerted on you – but no need to worry, the slide is designed so that you only feel the rush of speed. The 70 degree incline makes for a real Streif experience, only on water instead of snow.
Number of slides: 5
What else is special about the Area 47 water park:
The Water Area adventure pool in Area 47 is just one part of the large action and amusement park: try your hand at blobbing, where you lie on a large air cushion and are thrown into the air by the weight of others jumping on the cushion. Or try cannonballing – a slide that launches you into the lake like a cannonball through a concentrated load of water. Or let off steam on the slip and slide water jump. Still not enough? Then master the Splash Track, an obstacle course in the style of a bouncy castle.

Admission prices (valid for day ticket in the Water Area):

Burgenland: Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg – Austria’s longest indoor slide
